1. Disconnected the battery. 2. Pulled up the rear passenger seat on the driver side to reveal a triangular shaped access panel below the rear seat. 3. Removed the three philips screws to remove a panel behind the drivers seat and got access to the top of the fuel tank and the fuel pump. 4. Volkswagen mk4 golf wipers sticking on, checked large relay an was ok an took a chance on replacing wiper contours switch an cured my problem. Under your steering wheel there are 2 screws, take them out and pull the panel off. It could be the relay. With MK4 golfs there basically all run on the same one. Have a look and feel if it's hot.
